Hand Engraved Vegvisir Side Table. 24 inches round by 16.75 high. Finished in Shou Sugi Ban style then coated in polyacrylic for protection. Water resistant. Piece can be disassembled for shipping. The Vegvísir, often called the "Viking Compass" or "wayfinder," is an Icelandic magical stave (galdrastafir) designed to protect travelers and prevent them from losing their way, particularly in bad weather. Despite popular belief, it is not a true Viking-age symbol, but rather a 19th-century invention from the Icelandic Huld Manuscript.
