Privacy Policy

This website, www.ferricandflamecreative.com, is run by StorySmith Creative LLC DBA Ferric and Flame Creative ("Ferric and Flame Creative," "we," "us," or "the studio"). We're based in Florida and serve clients nationwide.

Here's the short version: we collect what you choose to send us, plus the basic visit data that comes with any website. We use it to answer you and to run the site. We don't sell it, and we don't send newsletters. If you have a question about any of this, write to us at matt@ferricandflamecreative.com.

What we collect

When you fill out our contact form. The form on our Contact page asks for:

First and last name (required)
Email address (required)
Phone number (optional)
Company name (optional)
"I am a..." (home-services company, marketing company or agency, voiceover client, or other) (optional)
"What do you need?" (custom spots, white-label library, radio, voiceover, or not sure yet) (optional)
Your message

You decide what goes in that message, so please don't send anything sensitive, like financial or health details.

When you use the chat on our site. The site has Wix chat. If you send us a message there, we receive what you type and anything you choose to share, like your name or email. Wix also shows us basic details about your visit with the message, such as your approximate location (city or region, based on your IP address) and the page you were on. We use that to answer you and to understand where our visitors are coming from.

When you just look around. Like most websites, ours automatically picks up some technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you look at, how long you stay, and the site that sent you here. Our host, Wix, collects this for us through cookies and similar tools (more on that below). We see it as overall traffic numbers and reports, not as a file on you.

When you find us through Google. We use Google Search Console to see which searches bring people to our site and how our pages show up in Google. That data comes to us grouped and summarized by Google. It doesn't tell us who you are.

When you read the blog. Our blog runs on Wix Blog. You don't need an account to read it.

How we use it

We use your information to:

Answer your questions and talk with you about a project
Send you quotes, proposals, and anything else you ask for
Keep a record of our conversations so we can pick up where we left off
Run the site, keep it secure, and fix what's broken
See which pages and videos people find useful, so we can make the site better

We don't send newsletters or marketing emails. When you reach out, we reply to you, and that's it. We won't add you to a mailing list.

We don't sell your information

We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We don't share it with other companies for their own advertising.

Your form and chat messages stay in the studio's email inbox and in Wix, which hosts the site. We don't put them into any other system or pass them to anyone else, unless the law requires it or we need to protect our rights or someone's safety. If the studio is ever sold or merged, your information could transfer with the business, and this policy would still apply to it.

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Our site uses them in a few ways:

Cookies that make the site work. Wix sets these to load pages, keep the site secure, and remember basic settings. The site doesn't work properly without them.
Analytics cookies. Wix uses these to count visits and show us how people use the site.
YouTube cookies. Some of our videos, like the ones on our Portfolio page, are played through YouTube. When you watch one, Google (which owns YouTube) may set its own cookies and collect information about your viewing, under Google's privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block all of them, parts of the site may not work right.

We don't currently use Google Analytics, the Meta (Facebook) pixel, or other advertising pixels on this site. If that changes, we'll update this page.

Who else is involved

Wix.com hosts our website and runs our contact form, chat, blog, and site analytics. Information you send through the site is stored on Wix's systems. Wix's privacy policy: https://www.wix.com/about/privacy
Google and YouTube provide Search Console and the video player for our embedded videos. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Our site also links to our pages on YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. When you click over to those sites, their own privacy policies apply, not this one.

How long we keep it

Contact form and chat messages: up to three years after our last contact, unless we need them longer for an active client project or for legal or tax reasons. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
Site analytics: kept by Wix according to its standard settings. Search data in Google Search Console is kept by Google.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

Tell you what personal information we have about you
Correct it if it's wrong
Delete it
Stop contacting you

Just email matt@ferricandflamecreative.com. We may need to confirm it's really you before we act, and we'll get back to you within 30 days. We won't treat you any differently for asking.

California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to ask us to delete it, and to not be treated differently for using those rights. We don't sell or share your personal information as California law defines those terms. To make a request, email us at the address above.

Children

This site is for businesses and adults. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Keeping it safe

Our site runs on Wix, which uses encryption (HTTPS) and other standard protections. No website is 100% secure, but we take reasonable care with what you send us and limit who can see it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top.
